Nouveau Monde Acrylique

Intricate and delicate papercuts followed the invention of rice paper in China during the Han Dynasty. Popular as a rural folk art, papercutting was also a highly cultivated skill displayed by women of the Imperial Court. I have found this traditional Chinese technique lends itself well to modern themes in contemporary art. I invite you to view my Nouveau Chinois gallery to judge for yourself whether these papercuts are indeed 'cutting edge'. You are also invited to visit my Nouveau Monde Acrylique and Nouveau Inc. galleries to view how traditional ink on rice paper and acrylics on canvas can portray new worlds.
